loss – Preparation for the art action on Syntagma Square in Athens on 16/03/2018

In the late Summer of 2017 in his Berlin studio, Winfried Muthesius begins the experimental sawing-up of his golden fields, as a preliminary study for the planned art action on Syntagma Square. The golden fields are sawn into long, narrow rectangles, and these are then sawn up into small fragments. At the end, the sawdust, remnants of gold leaf and splinters of wood no longer give any idea of the beauty of a golden field.
